A dictatorship-type government usually comes to power through a manipulated or stolen election. Dictators and small groups of governing bodies or administrations assume absolute power through manipulation, deceit, and propaganda.
A dictator uses power and authority without limitation and completely disregards the constitution, existing laws, and orders that may restrain the dictator from exercising absolute power to implement unpopular policies against citizens' wishes.
Dictatorship government tends to transition to tyranny, which is the unrestrained use of authority and power, as described in Britannica—a dictator rule by oppression and authoritative power.
The Dictatorship Government Controls The Media: The media is a propaganda machine for the authoritarian government. Before the Media can effectively help an oppressive government formation, it must have an implicit or explicit non-disclosure agreement with the press. This agreement works against the public and serves the interests of the prospective dictator and the small government group.
Through oppression and authoritarian power, the government may be able to buy and pay off about eighty percent of the press and independent journalists in exchange for spreading false information, ignoring reporting stories that do not fit into the narrative and agenda of the oppressive government, thereby focus on deceiving the public. Before 2020, throughout Trump's presidency from 2017 to January 2021, the mainstream media went out of control and threw away every journalistic ethics and standard out of the window; fake news and propaganda became the everyday news. An example of everyday propaganda was the RussiaGate, which went on for three years while the media concealed the truth, the first and second impeachment, and numerous false reports of what Trump said or did not say.
